Time is going fast...

I only have a little more than 4 weeks of maternity leave left. I can't believe how quickly this is going! Life doesn't slow down for anything... especially babies. I need to remember to treasure each moment.

Hannah and Isaac had a great time this afternoon building a cave in the living room. They used chairs and a blanket to make the cave and then they turned out every light in the house because a cave is suppose to be very dark. They had so much fun.

I'm trying to find the motivation to do some cleaning around the house as we get ready to show it again. Not knowing exactly when that will be doesn't spur me on very well. With three children it is almost pointless to get things ready more than a few hours in advance. Maybe I'll work on the office tonight and get the deep cleaning part done so that it will just be little stuff when the time comes. I deep cleaned the bathroom last night... all except the floor. I'll do all the floors right ahead of time.

I think I need some ice cream!

Eli has been smiling more and more... mostly at me! It makes my day to see that little toothless grin knowing that something about him seeing me makes him smile! A couple times now he has stopped nursing to give me a grin, I guess his way of saying THANKS! Today, right after he woke up from a nice nap, I picked him up and smiled at him and he gave me three smiles in a row. I will do my best to catch one of these cute smiles on camera. They are becoming more an more frequent. Oh, he has also giggled a couple of times, but only in his sleep! He must have good dreams.

All my kids have marvelous smiles, and dimples too! Such cuties!

Trying to Sell

I'm looking at the house wondering how I will manage to get it ready for a showing within the next few days. It could be tomorrow or it could be a few days off. My realtor was kind enough to give me advance warning that she would be showing it to a very interested young couple. I'm very thankful for the advance since it seems to take much longer to get things accomplished lately... even harder to keep them accomplished.

I'm praying that this is the family that will fall in love with our house and want to buy it right away. They just got financing, so that won't be an issue. So, say a prayer for us today!

Loads of Laundry

I am amazed at the amount of laundry my family produces... and how much it has increased since the arrival of our little Eli. His clothing is quite small, but somehow the amount to be washed increased by a huge amount! I seriously need to do at least 2 loads a day to keep up. If I miss a day, the laundry becomes an overwhelming mountain. All this laundry and I haven't even started full time with the cloth diapers yet. Sticking with disposables is so tempting... but as soon as I get in gear with the cloth I'm sure it won't seem like so much work. It is a lot more work than disposables, but so much better for the planet and the wallet! Plus, I like the cloth against baby's skin instead of the disposable stuff. I guess I better start with the cloth and get in the groove.

Eli continues to be E.Z. Krantz! Neither Hannah of Isaac ever took a bottle... I mean NEVER. We tried, but they were my all natural babies that outright refused anything other than mommy. Since I will be working part time this time around, I thought it best to get Eli able to take a bottle. I was a bit worried about how this would go considering my failed attempts with the other two kids. Well, first try with Eli he took it! I expressed and then promptly gave him the milk in a bottle. He had a very confused look on his face the entire time, but he took it just fine. He had the funniest look on his face though... I couldn't help but laugh. He took about 2 oz. and then I followed up nursing. The confused look went away and he drifted to sleep... such and easy little guy!

Hannah and Isaac are feeling somewhat better. Hannah went to school, but I'm sure she will be tired. Hoping the afternoon goes well for them!

Cabin Fever

Today was a beautiful day! Alas, I did not get outside. The double stroller was calling out my name, but both Hannah and Isaac are sick. Isaac made it through the night last night without puking, so he is on the mend. Hannah started getting sick this morning. They both are congested with a yucky cough, although Isaac is sounding better. Anyway, we stayed inside today.

Thus far Eli has remained healthy, not catching whatever it is the other two have. The miracles of breastmilk! I'm hoping he stays healthy. A young infant with a fever is not my idea of a good time, especially when it would mean a visit to the ER in the middle of the night.

While we remained inside, the Ibuprofen kicked in for both of the kids and they seemed to have more energy... enough in fact to make a complete mess of the main floor and the upstairs of the house in the amount of time it took me to nurse Eli. Amazing. I wish they could put that amount of energy into cleaning it all up.

All in all, things are really going quite well. Eli is such a wonderful baby and he really does have a wonderful big brother and big sister. This Mommy is working on a few things to be a better Mommy. I am having to work on "letting things go." Being OK with a cluttered mess is something I am trying hard to embrace. Sometimes the mess makes my mind feel messy and I just can't concentrate on anything. This is something I will HAVE to get over with having three children. I am doing better at it. I do have my moments. But, I am determined to spend time loving on my children, playing games, doing projects, reading to and with them, talking to them about Jesus, sharing faith growing experiences and just being there. So, something has to give...

So, these are the thoughts of a mommy stuck inside on a beautiful day in Endicott. We'll see what tomorrow brings!
